There are many reasons to love ZZ Ward. Her blues-inspired, soulful voice swooned the musical ears of Kendrick Lamar, Fitz and The Tantrums and more on her debut album Til The Casket Drops...an impressive feat. Between her Criminal EP and her debut album, Ward began making the network rounds soon after her album dropped in 2012.

Inspired by Albert King (of “The Three Kings”--Albert King, B.B. King and Freddie King), and other blues and folk arists, as well as hip hop artists has made ZZ a regular on my playlists and Hypem “loves.” Oh yeah and in her spare spare time, Ward dropped a mixtape, Eleven Roses with covers of Childish Gambino, Kendrick Lamar and other interpretations worth tuning in to. Put The Gun Down but don’t but down her album. It’s quite the eargasm.

Sonic Lunch at Liberty Plaza in Ann Arbor, MI is the site of ZZ Ward’s FREE SHOW tomorrow. She starts jammin’ (and I start dancin’ ha) at noon tomorrow! I remember when my Dad and I went to Sonic Lunch when I was younger, and what it’s become is a testament to Ann Arbor’s diversity as a city and group of music aficionados.
