Ann Arbor duo Fake Lorist dropped their second free album today, Outside Boxes. El Quigg produces a solid line up featuring samples from Noreaga, and especially jazzy beats found on tracks like "You" and "Reality." Fake Lorist emcee Ay-Kauff (Andrew Kauffmann) does these beats justice, spitting some of his best lines yet like, "Told 'em I'm from Michigan. Interested in intricate rhythms, spit as sick as little kids" off the Noreaga-sampled, "Thug Poetry."
Metaphorically maturing and expanding his flow, Ay-Kauff shows range content-wise while keeping it punny, with lines like, "And them other chicks, really I ain't givin' two shits. And I'ma buy you flowers long as you give me them two lips" off the end track, "You."
Bottom line: Fake Lorist is on the come up, and it's never too late to tune in.
