1. Comeback--Ella Eyre
Soulful Brit-pop at its best. Ella Eyre’s “Comeback” is a spunky break-up anthem, that had me yelling “GIRLLL POWERRR!” by the end of the track. Her raspy pop-rock voice matches the attitude of this song perfectly. Overall solid shoutout to the broken-hearted, an “eff you” to the heartbreakers and a reminder to the ladies to know your worth—once he realizes, he’ll come crawling back. It’s up to you to take him or not...
2. All Week--Dusty McFly
Take a tour through the D, or should I say Metro Detroit. Detroit’s rising star shouts out his city and its suburbs, reminding everyone of his weekly grind to get him up and out with full pockets.
3. Goin' Crazy--Rich The Kid ft. Migos
Young, rich, and running their city, Rich The Kid and Migos are taking Atlanta by storm. With his new mixtape slated for release later this month, Rich The Kid dropped “Goin’ Crazy” off the upcoming tape. Goin’ crazy in ATL with the staples—cars, girls, parties,—the Quality Control Music crew reminds listeners how it feels to be the mans in the city.
4. Bud Light--William Bolton
Hoodie Allen sound-alike, William Bolton hits the nail on the head with this up-beat, summer break up song. Yes ladies--even boys' hearts break when their summer flings are over, and like many, Bolton takes to some bud and Bud Light to ease his summertime sadness.
5. Lucy (Olivver Remix)--Skizzy Mars
Skizzy Mars...how to describe him? He originally grabbed America by the ears with "Douchebag", and now the barely-legal youngster from Manhattan is showing he has polished his craft early. With an alternative-rap style, the Olivver remix suits "Lucy" well.
6. Youth In Revolt--WELL$ ft. King Mez
If you like the socially-conscious hip hop focused on providing meaningful commentary--listen up.
7. Lala--Cam'ron
I'm surprised how much I love this Cam'Ron chiefer's anthem. Cam'ron is back with a track dedicated to the lala from his 1st of The Month Vol. 2 EP. My favorite part about this is the beat--piano samples had me hooked on the first play.
8. Wimme Nah--vic Mensa (prod. by Kaytranada
On this Kaytranada-produced track, Mensa asks a simple question: “are you wimme nah?” And by now you better be.
9. Diamonds--Common ft. Big Sean
More fire off common's new album, Nobody's Smiling featuring Detroit little big mouth, Big Sean. Produced by No I.D. (like the rest of the album), this track is an off-beat hip hop hit.
10. The North--Wondagurl
This 17-year-old producer boldy samples both the American and Canadian national anthems on his tribute to life in northen towns. Wondagurl is here to stay, especially with a keen display of creativity and musical variety on "The North." The off-kilter beats on this track help tell a dark story of life in the north.
