Chance The Rapper stopped at Eastern Michigan University on the Verge Campus Fall Tour on October, 8. I had long awaited a chance to see Chance, having missed him in Ann Arbor back in March.

Something tells me the show at the University of Michigan's Hill Auditorium was better.

Chance The Rapper was a fun, emotional and emphatic performer; his nasally rasp sounded just how I wanted it to when he rapped and when he sang. However, I probably would have appreciated it more at a smaller, more acoustically-sound venue (like Hill Auditorium).

CTR eased the crowd in with "Everybody's Something," a perfect showcase of who he is as an artist with a sing-song, smooth hip hop feel to it. While this is one of my favorite CTR tracks, I'm more of a fan of a hype, heavy-hitter to kick off a concert and wake up the crowd.

The finale though? A different story.

Chance and The Social Experiment rocked out with a brand new tune called "Paradise"--a crowd-engaging, electronic and somewhat offbeat party jam that is bound to blow up by the tour's end. And not only did he get the crowd to sing along to the new track, the finale also featured a full-on light show.

Personally though, my favorite part was the encore--CTR came back out with "Chain Smoker," a hit off his second, highly acclaimed mixtape, Acid Rap.

The place (literally) went up in smoke.

Unfortunately for Chance The Rapper, Travi$ Scott and Young & Sick, EMU's Convocation Center is not the most enjoyable venue, especially for seasoned concert-goers. For an artist like CTR, who headlined Lollapallooza this past summer, you would think the Convocation Center would have been packed, but it wasn't, and with more than half the arena empty it was hard to establish an overall atmosphere. The venue sold beer though, so that was a plus!

Overall, a good time. I'd see Chance The Rapper again, no doubt, but next time I'll choose my venue more wisely.
